Investor Reception: Swedish-British Games

14 April, 18:00 - 21:00

Swedish-British Games Investor Reception:

Why Sweden keeps on churning out hit successes in the games industry & a glimpse inside the international development of the latest Bond game, and Sweden’s role in it

Invest in Skåne, The Swedish Chamber of Commerce for the UK and the Swedish representation to the United Kingdom is inviting you to an invite-only opportunity to meet some of the people behind the Swedish games industry success story at the Swedish residency in London. We invite you to learn why the latest Bond game is being developed in Malmö as one of several key locations involved in a wider international production spanning the UK, Sweden, Denmark, Spain and Türkiye. We also invite you to engage with peers as well as a strong delegation of Swedish companies and games investors in town for the London Games Festival. Many of the studios present represent the ideal type of investment into the Swedish games and tech ecosystem, being founded by people with strong industry connections, a legacy of games creation and strong willingness to continue to innovate the future experiences in games.

The reception centres on informal, high quality networking, giving guests the chance to exchange views on live equity cases, evolving investor appetite and the realities of scaling studios internationally. Whether you are already active in games or simply curious about the opportunities at the intersection of IP and technology, the Investor Reception: Swedish-British Games offers the perfect setting to test ideas, compare notes and build new relationships with the Swedish games ecosystem.

Additional context

Sweden has had an impressive creative output in the past 30 years within games, with today’s greatest exports and vehicles for soft power being the Cubic blocks we know from Minecraft or the addictive digital jelly beans from Candy Crush. Sweden has pivoted from producing the music (ABBA) we enjoy in our IKEA-filled living rooms or from the safety of our cubic car (Volvo) to today producing the content (Candy Crush, Battlefield, The Division, Minecraft, Arc Raiders, Helldivers etc) we instead enjoy on our digital platforms (Spotify, Bambuser, Klarna etc).

During 2025 20% of all revenue on the world's largest platform for games, Steam, went to Swedish games companies and 2 out of the 5 fastest growing tech companies in Sweden are games studios, while 9 qualify to the top 50 list by Deloitte. Sweden has for the past 30 years consistently had a high creative output and continues to shape tomorrow’s experiences in games. This has created many veterans and legacy players in the industry with a continued urge to keep on creating. Especially the southernmost part of Sweden, Skåne, has become an exceptionally talent dense hub for much of this. Companies in Malmö have built the latest experiences in Star Wars, Avatar and right now next on the list of famous IP’s being developed is the latest Bond-game. They say that when Hollywood (or London) wants a game, they go to Malmö in Skåne.
